Raul Albiol insists that Real Madrid cannot afford anything less than victory over Espanyol this weekend.

The Spanish international central defender fears anything but a win will end their title hopes.

He stated to EFE: “We have no margin for error, because if we lose it means we can virtually say goodbye to the league.

“Espanyol are a difficult team because they have a good record at home. Everyone knows that they will really want to win, and we cannot fail. We are seven points behind Barcelona, so we better win.”

Yaya Toure Wants All Three Points Against Manchester United

1374f_Jack-Wilshere

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has declared that his team will be looking for all three points at Old Trafford.

Cash rich Manchester need to make up ground on their title rivals and the former Barcelona midfielder insists that a victory is certainly the order of the day for the blue side of Manchester.

The Ivory Coast international said : “For us, this derby comes at just the right moment to climb up the table,”.

“To win at Old Trafford would strike a great blow and show we can fight for the title.

“United have home advantage but in these games either team can win. I beat United during my time at Barcelona and now I dream of repeating that.

“But these three points are so important and mentally we are ready. Maybe their defeat [against Wolves last Saturday, their first in the Premier League this season] may affect them and allow us to create chances and score.

“It will be a hard game, but we’ll go there looking for all three points, not just one. Carlos Tevez is working really hard and with the eyes of the world on this game he will want to be the star.

“It could be the biggest game of the season and while it’s never easy at Old Trafford we believe it’s possible as we’re focused on success. We’re determined to go on top of the table.”

The rivalry between the two sides make this the Derby d’Italia and on Sunday there will be a showdown.

The Italian international defender said : “There’s no point hiding it, a match against Inter represents the battle within a battle. It’s a special game for us, the club and fans, but also the table,”.

“It is a game that brings a great deal in terms of emotions, but also at the end of the day is worth three points, regardless of the different sensations it may give. We’re convinced that we are in good shape and will go out there to win.”

Messi On Ronaldo : We Do Not Compete With Each Other!

Barcelona star Lionel Messi has declared that he is not obsessed with outdoing great rival Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid superstar.

Both players scored in this week’s friendly between Messi’s Argentina and Ronaldo’s Portugal.

“This wasn’t a game between Barcelona and Real Madrid or between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Messi.

“We don’t compete with each other to see who is the better player, we do so for the benefit of our teams.

“I asked to play the 90 minutes tonight [Wednesday] and as I normally take penalties I did so again,” added Messi.

“I was asked to play more or less as I do at Barcelona, as a sort of a false number 9, slightly behind the attack.”

Frank Lampard Wants Players To Repay Roman Abramovich Faith

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has urged the rest of the squad to get behind owner Roman Abramovich who spent big on Fernando Torres and David Luiz in January.

The England international midfielder declared that the players should take note of that and come together in a bid to bring more silverware to Stamford Bridge.

“It was a boost for everyone,” said Lampard.

“To sign a world-class player like Torres, and a player like Luiz, who looks fantastic, was a big boost for us. It didn’t go well at the weekend, but hopefully we can make it work.

“I hope we can win some silverware this season. We have to work it right. Two big players coming into the team – we have to make sure and keep the fluency and make it work, the system and everything.

“They can only help you, those two players. We’ve left ourselves a lot to do in the league – we’ll never give up on it – but we have to fight on all directions with the FA Cup and the Champions League coming up.”

Xavi : I Would Love To Play For Manchester United!

According to Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, he would have loved to have played for Manchester United if he ever decided to move to England.

The World Cup winning midfielder was speaking to the Daily Mail about his English football heroes ahead of Barca’s trip to London to take on Arsenal next week and said he had a deep affection for the famous Manchester club.

Xavi replied : “Rooney, Scholes, Cesc (Fabregas), Nasri and Giggs (are my current favourites),”.

“I was also a big fan of John Barnes, Chris Waddle and Matt Le Tissier. And although it is a different style, I liked the Paul Ince and Roy Keane partnership Manchester United had.

“They would have been my team had I moved to England.”

Xavi also said that Paul Scholes is the most ‘complete’ midfielder in the game today.

“In the last 15 to 20 years the best central midfielder that I have seen — the most complete — is Scholes. I have spoken with Xabi Alonso about this many times. Scholes is a spectacular player who has everything,” he added.

“He can play the final pass, he can score, he is strong, he never gets knocked off the ball and he doesn’t give possession away. If he had been Spanish then maybe he would have been valued more.”
